It is like joining the military. For those that do, great. Thanks for protecting my freedom. I don't have to right now. If WW3 broke out, and I had to join to protect my family and country I would.
Using the military analogy.
Enemy bullets are the disease
Bullet proof vests are the vaccine
bullet proof vest won't stop all bullets
Bullet proof vest will slow you down
I bet you still wear it though.
Biggest difference here is if YOU don't wear your bullet proof vest and get shot, the guy next to you most likely won't be effected by the bullet that hits you.
