I was raised around them since I was a child and have had 5 of my own and never once have mine shown even the slightest aggression towards people.

In these cases, who identifies the breed of the dog? Is it the victim?

Also, just for the record, pit bull isn't an actual breed. You probably already knew that though.


Everything I've read on them indicates they are considered their own breed. But, I've got no idea one way or the other. I've just read some articles out of curiosity when these cases pop up. I've seen articles referencing that even PETA supports breed-specific sterilization for pitbulls. The ASPCA also seems to take the stance that it is its own breed. But don't matter one way or the other to me.
