What freaks me out is that this guy was a pretty influential congressman at one point. It's fine to cling to wrong beliefs despite hard evidence to the contrary if the stakes are low. But when you're helping make policy decisions for your country, don't you kind of have an obligation to be as informed as possible about the elements of those decisions?

Wow typical fear mongered congressman. It's the peoples own fault for electing such a waste of air.

Haha, you know what I mean. I'm just saying if you're arguing with your family about some dumb shit and you insist on being right when you're clearly wrong, who gives a shit? It doesn't effect anyone. But when your wrongness affects millions of people, that's dbaggery on a whole different level.

How will we progress as a species if we keep protecting the weak and stupid and allow them to spread their weak/stupid genes? Is it wrong for me to trust that Evolution will bring us to a better tomorrow in a couple hundred thousand years? Maybe... Maybe I'm just not shocked enough that a thousand kids out of 300 million people got sick.. 5 thousand is a tragedy, 1 thousand is a statistic. wait, did I get that backwards?

To think, we've been doing it wrong all along. We should probably go ahead and shut down all the hospitals, like today. Huge waste of money. If we were meant to survive, our DNA will keep us alive no matter what tragedy befalls us!

Science is great. If we can use it to save lives, why wouldn't we?

I'm gonna print this post so I can hand it to your wife when your first child is born and remind her that you'd prefer to roll the evolutionary dice with your kid's life (and the lives of every kid your kid comes into contact with) to ensure your genes are the strongest they can be.
