I have 2 friends that work in law enforcement here in CA. Both make low to mid 6 figures after OT.

OT is where they make their money. Never let a cop tell you they aren't well paid. The Stockton Record posts the salaries of the highest paid city officials, and it's almost always cops. If their base salary is $75,000, they make an additional $75,000 in overtime throughout the year.

Want to know why all those bullshit cases get filed? Now ya know. Just think if you could arrest someone, take all of their shit (forfeiture laws), then you actually made money when you had to go to court so the attorneys could fight about it.

Law enforcement is one of the best money making rackets out there.

What is the hourly rate though? 100k if you're working 60 hours a week every week is about $30/hour which is nothing to sneeze at but you can make the same amount of money as an electrician or something else where you aren't getting shot at. You're also talking about CA where cost of living is a lot higher than most places.

Keeping with the electrician analogy, having cops without tactical gear is like asking an electrician to not own an arc flash suit. Yeah, there's times he'll be working on 110 volt power and maybe it's not necessary, but it's nice to know he has one in case they send him to a plant working on 480V equipment.

You guys took small part of what I said and dissected it and then didn't address any other parts. Way to go.

Because whether or not cops need tactical gear is not relevant to the discussion of whether or not civilians should be allowed to have guns AND that exact topic already has it's own mega argument thread somewhere in this forum. Go find it if you wanna argue about that. I'm pretty sure that's the thread that made Rok finally decided for sure that he hates me. smile

I'm not even against concealed carry, so I'm not sure why you keep dropping my name in this junk thread.

If I was a police officer and had to deal with the crazies I too would want Armor Personnel Carriers, full tactical gear, etc.

Would any of YOU do the job with just a bullet proof vest and a sidearm? Keep in mind the majority of them get paid jack shit.

yeah man, just give them drones too.

I think at this point he name drops to stay relevant. Kinda like how 50 cent climbed the ranks he might be going for the same thing.

Well, considering how often you drop mine, you're probably the expert on this topic. And way cheaper than a shrink. Thx bro.

If it was unclear, I wasn't talking to you. I was just making a random, irrelevant remark. But I think this whole "militarized police force" theme is hot air. Most of the people that bring it up can't even articulate what it means to have a "militarized police force" or how that would differ from a "non-militarized police force", or exactly where the line separating the two should be drawn.
