Oh dude why didn't anyone think of this before. With no guns there's no murder. It's crazy how simple the answers are and no one has thought of any of this before huh?

Look further and further away from the truth.

Assuming your crazy idea to ban ownership of lawfully owned guns would ever happen (it won't) how exactly do you propose to remove the 200-300 million guns already in circulation? Connecticut tried this, this year, and it failed miserably. They passed a new law after Sandy Hook banning assault weapons, magazines larger than 10 rounds and requiring people to register their guns. About 50,000 people complied out of an estimated 500,000 guns that would fall under the new law. That's a 10% compliance rate. Thank sweet little baby jesus that they passed that law. I'm sure everyone is MUCH safer now.

They're not safer, they're in dire straights. There are potentially 450,000 criminals on the loose in one state, overnight, now.

If each one of those people was written 1 ticket each, and each ticket issued took a police officer 5 minutes, and that was all that it took to issue those tickets;

450,000 x5 minutes = 2,250,000 minutes (for perspective this translates to 37,500 hours; 1,562.5 days; 53 months; 4.3 years). This is why it's a "War on Guns" fiasco. It's an impossible task to issue those tickets, or anyone to actually suffer any consequence.

It just migrates tax revenue away from things that might actually be helpful to society, over to an empty investment that creates criminals out of people who do not pose a threat to anyone. While people who do pose a threat to others, continue to do so.

Maybe the US can just bring in the UN to de-militarize the population. Oh wait, the US IS the UN. Maybe we can just bring in China. Land a few million of them on the shores and they can start confiscation. Over/under on the success of that?

I dunno i was just talking in a scenario that the past 30 years wasnt flooded with legal weapons. Nothing about it was a practical application currently. was just talking about how the right to have handguns seems to be the reason we have so many illegal guns floating around.

I don't hate the idea of de-militarizing our population, as long as we start with the police first.
