Life is Feudal: Your Own has been out for a week now on Steam, and despite being $40 it has sold a good amount of copies. It has been in the Steam Top Ten Sellers for over a week hitting the #2,#1, and now the 4th slot. Only being pushed off the top slot because of the Valve Complete Pack and Shadow of Mordor sale. In all that time it was only on the front page for 3 days, meaning that its continued success is due to interest and good word of mouth.
After only a week it has almost reached Rust's players numbers. LiF player numbers at the moment being 7001 to Rust's 8157. Not to shabby for the new kid on the block. The devs are doing a good job of reaching out to youtubers and twitch streamers to get the word out on the game, and the program should be picking up steam soon.
If anyone remembers me talking about this game during Darkfall or Rust, than they know that LiF is the #1 future MMO I'm waiting on. Unfortunately to get the money to continue with the MMO they needed money, which they are getting with this smaller Rust type server model. Once they are done fixing LiF: Your Own they will continue to work on the MMO.
Anyway I've taken the time to test the game out, and I'm pretty addicted. The game is very polished for an alpha, and the level of detail in the crafting system is amazing. Combat on the other hand needs some work. I think its very much worth playing right now, if u are interested in this type of game. I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in logic and realism, and not retarded game mechanics that don't make sense.
I'll be willing to pay for a LiF server if enough people are interested. I'd be happy to give LoD ranked members admin access to insure there is no admin abuse like in Rust or Dayz. We can discuss the rules of the server when the time comes.
A few key points:
1. Melee is aim based action combat, but needs some work. 2. Ranged combat is in its early stages. 3. Crafting is 95% feature complete. 4. Mounts and Trade carts are still being worked on. 5. Terraforming land and creating tunnels is working 100%. 6. Creating farms and groves is working perfectly. 7. Farm animals is only half done. 8. Animals in general need minor work done on them. 9. Formation system is working. 10.Hunger, wounds, bleeding, fracture systems are all working more or less. 11.World Map is done 3km x 3km. 12.Most of the combat skills are working, but need some work. 13.Inventory system working, and much like Darkfall 1. 14.Server stability very good when below 30 players, but above that starts to take a minor drop in performance. 15.FPS should be good for most PCs, but it might drop with number of trees on screen. Adjusted with settings tweak. 16.Some lag during daylight transition like sunrise and sunset. 17.Very few crash issues or memory leaks. I experience a crash maybe every 5 hours. 18.Good community. Because of the games complexity, its more for adult gamers. 19.No hacking thus far, and a duping bug was removed within a day. 20.Steam Voice Chat works in-game for Rust like RP:) 21.Frequent patches and fixes thus far.
Sup Topo. I dunno I looked into it and the combat looked pretty shitty to me. Like Rust but if you ONLY had melee. Game seems like it has some great ideas but needs a lot more polishing before I'm gonna drop 40 bucks on it. One of the LoD guys knows the guy who created it too.
I still may try this sooner or later but not this week.. Have a few other things topo, but keep us in loop, who knows maybe we can have another LoD team v team .
Yeah, I agree. The price is to high right now for me to recommend it to anyone other than people that really love this sort of game. I'm pretty sure combat is the first thing the devs are looking at, so I'll keep u guys updated when they have a combat patch that is worth it. Hopefully they have a sale or else they will get creamed come the holiday season. I already told them, but we will see what happens. I also suggested they make a sale of a LiF lite version for $20 without the MMO access included. When the MMO comes out they can sell an MMO version upgrade for $20. Pretty simple if they want to increase sales. With H1Z1 coming out soon they better get a move on their support for the game, as H1Z1 is a mix of Rust and DayZ, and could steal a lot of customers from them.
Other than that I'll be playing Alien:Isolation in a few days when it comes out. How about u guys?
We got some guys finishing up the Albion alpha. It's over in a week. We got a handful playing Archage. I couldn't bring myself to download it after watching the vids. Still got some in Darkfall.
Cool. As for your concerns in regard to grinding, it can be adjusted via server admin tools. U can set the skill cap and skill gain to whatever u want, so getting setup can be very close to Rust's quick startup time. There is also a number of other interesting settings, however no moding currently.
We had a some people following H1Z1 and updating us regularly but I haven't heard much about the game in a while. What's the 411 on it? I think we'd def get some LoD up in that game if it lives up to the hype.
Last update they said they wanted to make a few landmarks and towns to make the world feel lived in. Once they are happy with that they will go in to early access.
