The liberal spectrum is vast and it houses many ideologies as do most affiliated parties. I would not confuse a religious right individual with a Reaganite republican. They share the same bed for political power but core principals and end goals are worlds apart.
Some people think a pro-gun liberal is an oxymoron. Hell, some think political and religious affiliation is hereditary. At the end of the day ignorance is to be celebrated and paranoid thought is to be nurtured.
