Organized crime mixed with heroin/cocaine abuse has raised the murder rate in Israel drastically. The correlation between prohibition of drugs and guns is something to factor in the equation. Of course Canada has one of the lowest murders per capita and they have similar drug laws, albeit Canada does not incarcerate their population en mass ala "Merica.
