I'd rather have my gun out to address the threat, and while nothing may come of that I think it would suck for the person that's open carrying. So I disagree that open carry is safer. I think either way, if someone has a gun on them, it's the person that makes the first move that gets the first shots off. Seeing as I don't get paid to mind read, I get paid to react...I would have a much shorter life span.

If open carry was legal, you're telling me you'd draw down on every person you approached who was exercising their right to open carry? I can't fathom how that would be acceptable. I think you'd lose your job for excessive force.

Pay no attention to this man. He's not even MURICAN. His country bought fighter jets from our country with no engines. His argument is invalid.

Hexen you are right that nobody's opinion on the issue is more valid than anyone else's. We are all (with the exception of Zeke and Firaxis who are Gaynadians and chimed in for troll's sake) citizen's of this country and therefore all of our opinions/concerns/fears etc have equal validity.

That said, I was a bit taken aback by Anti's opinion so on my way back from my appointment this morning I called one of my good buddies who is CHP. His opinion was 180 degrees from Anti's. His exact words were "I think that's great. More people, normal law abiding citizens should carry concealed. There would be less school and mall type shootings." His co-worker who was standing next to him when I called, agreed. This is not a desk jockey. He volunteered to work graveyard shift in Compton right out of the academy. A few years back, there was a fatal shooting of a suspect here in Sacramento who pinned a CHP officer against another car with his car, trying to crush him. My buddy is the one who shot the guy. He's worked the meanest streets this state has to offer. I'm not saying his opinion is any more valid than Anti's, simply that it's clear not all cops who've worked dangerous beats feel the way Anti does.

Also Hexen, you are wrong that nobody cares about gun laws. The fact that there is so much heated debate about the issue and conflicting court opinions proves otherwise. If nobody cared, there would be no arguing.

I'm more thrilled with the overall idea behind what happened than I am with the specific issue that was decided. I think G-Fist's position on the government is a tad extreme, but several of my friends think the way he does. I think you'd be a fool not to see that our civil liberties in this country have been slowly eroding for decades. I support any decision that overturns statutory law on the basis of constitutionality because it means the judiciary is doing their fucking job. I'm REALLY happy about this one because it started by a group of citizens being fed up with the over-restrictive gun laws in CA and taking a stand. And they won, for now. I'm pretty excited about that.
