I shot a problem bear with a 12 gauge slug last year, and after making the shot which went through the rib cage around it's heart and lungs, it grabbed a tree and made as though to climb it.
It was too injured to continue climbing, but the strength that the thing grabbed the tree makes you realize that they have the power to kill you in a second.
