Rolo]If you are concerned at all about the security of the weapon when you have it at home, look at
Gun Vault . It keeps your weapon safe, loaded and ready for action quickly, but away from any prying eyes or hands. I used mine for years when my kid was smaller, but I just leave mine handy now that he's older.
I just got one of these Rolo. I love it. I'm looking into something for the shotgun. For home defense, I prefer it. If nothing else, the shound of a shotgun chambering a round is pretty fucking loud and intimidating. I haven't been able to find a good option to keep it concealed, secure and easily accessible though.
Roby, my best friend just got an XD subcompact .40 cal on Saturday. His dad sent it to him. He's a big guy with big hands and he said if he hadn't gotten the gun for free, he wouldn't be happy with it. If you have large hands, I suggest going to a store or range and trying out the feel of it. It's a preference thing of course, but he said he'd prefer a larger gun. If you're not going for concealed carry, there's no reason to go subcompact, unless you just like them.
