Roby]Was looking at the Sig 1911, mostly because it's always been my fav pistol in BF3. Think im gonna go over to Reeds indoor range and just try a bunch of different guns out.
Sig 1911 is always good if you want a single action only pistol. If you don't mind DA/SA then the Sig P220 is the way to go...Look up the Sig P220 Match Elite. It is a .45 but it has a decocker so you can carry it with the hammer down(unlike a traditional 1911). The only downside to this is that the first trigger pull is longer than the second one, and some people don't like that. The first is like 7 pounds and the one after the first shot is about 4.5 pounds.
I personally like the Double Action/Single Action over the Single Action Only because I don't have to pack it "cocked and locked". The Sig P220 Equinox is pretty sweet too...Hell, any Sig is nice.
EDIT = .45 is perfect for any woman to shoot. It has very little recoil. Every girl I ever took shooting enjoyed it more than anything else in my collection. Stick to .230 grain FMJ for your first few hundred rounds before switching to defense rounds to make sure the feed gets worked in so you don't have feeding issues with hallowpoints for home defense(though you shouldn't have issues with a sig anyway).
If you practice with the DA/SA you will beat just about anything out of the holster. It just requires you to be a little more of a skilled shooter to be dead on with the first shot since it isn't consistent with the second.
If you do the DA/SA route, and I hope you do:), then I recommend practicing in two shot bursts. Unholster and fire two, then decock, holster, and repeat. You will be a pro in no time.
I have a few 1911s and a couple Sigs(p220 and p226). I enjoy the P220 more than the 1911 for most things.
