Then the guy in the middle has no job, and everyone loses.
For instance, Cabela's the mega outdoor sports chain, recently put a giant superstore literally, on the state line in Idaho. The store is there to service Spokane residents, but they built it in Idaho because they pay less taxes. They still get most of their revenue from Washington, but paying us no taxes.
Big business and the people who own them have plenty of options. What is keeping them from taking thier business with all the taxes, and the jobs, then still selling us their products?
GG wealth redistribution.

Ever read Atlas Shrugged? Great book. Same concept.

That works in some cases, but since you are supposed to pay taxes on where the income is earned, you can't just take your business away from that. McDonalds isn't going to close up shop. So long as the states setup their own taxes, we will have cases of business doing what Cabelas did. The question is what is "too much"? People always think that they pay "too much" in taxes, and with our crazy tax structure and devious accountants and lawyers it isn't too difficult to adjust your taxable income.

The other major issue facing this country is that the only jobs we are creating are low wage service jobs. Those jobs aren't going to be outsourced anytime soon, but they also don't pay enough to live beyond paycheck to paycheck for a family.

Unfortunately the solution isn't as simple as "tax the rich" or "cut taxes." There is no easy way out of the mess this country is in.
