I am 100% for children of the age of 14-18 take mandatory full on driving & firearms training.. think about the drop in accidents, crime, etc. that would come about something like that. They aren't automatic weapons but i get what you're saying, there are plenty that are just as dangerous...the problem isn't the gang bangers who get their guns illegaly or the occasional housewife that shoots an innocent person...those are steady death rates that are unfortunate but aren't going to be fixed. The problem is that EVERYONE has equal rights, and so because a lot of people want guns for protection that means all the sketchy people of the world get them as well. The most dangerous stop isn't rolling up on the banger with a felony want...it's that 5150 marine who just wants to do a dance for you on the side of the road... The amount of mentally unstable people is ridiculous and because everyone feels that they have a right to arm themselves, the mentally unstable have a right as well.
Obama isn't going to change that, no one is, because as sad as it sounds a school shooting like Connecticut doesn't affect the people that need to be affected to set change like that in motion.
