I'm guessing police, lawyers, medical professionals, rehabiliation workers, chemical suppliers, prisons etc etc etc generate a bigger profit from drugs being illegal than the cost you would relieve society of making it legal.
The war on drugs is a huge business plan. I heard it employs like 15 million+ people directly or indirectly in the states.
75% of convicts being locked up for drug related charges, majority of them because of cannabis. That's alot of salaries and alot of billing. Why eliminate a profitable illness.
Probably why you will see more treatments rather than cures for serious diseases.
