You typically participate in socially "unacceptable" or taboo activities gradually, or any activity that you causes apprehension. For example serial killers usually don't start with humans, people usually start with kissing and later graduate to sex, and thieves usually start out small and graduate to bigger things. I believe its the same with drugs. Perhaps it would make you feel more comfortable if I said how many people you think started with coke or e or Meth etc? I think most peeps start with alcohol or weed and move up from there. I think its less "scary" to start with less serious drugs.
