Mofo Fly]... Today, my lady is the head paralegal for her law firm & is making good money... but she started as a simple file clerk there at that firm working for minimum wage.. it was her work, effort, exp, etc. that got her there.. not the piece of paper.
I already had an AA. Worked in banking/real estate, which tanked obviously. Went back to school in 2008 into an ABA approved paralegal program and graduated with a 2nd AA in 1 year (11 months actually). I started as a paralegal and never worked for minimum wage. I negotiated a 66% wage increase after four months in a down economy. I work for a civil litigator who graduated Berkley law school (Boalt) and has 25 years of experience. He told me flat out he wouldn't have even given me an interview without a degree and/or certificate from a respected paralegal program.
I'm not trying to take anything away from your accomplishments Fly, they are impressive. However they're not the norm. Most people who don't go to college do NOT turn out successful. There's volumes of statistics to support this statement. Enough to fill Tonk's mother's underwear drawer, and she wears big underwear. As most of us know, billionaire Bill Gates never finished college either. But again, he's not the norm.
