i dont understand this ranking system - does it simply go off win/loss? i got stuck with some REALLY shitty team mates. I had one game where the guy didnt know what "seige tank" was, and another didnt understand why he should use supply depots to block off his entrance to a triple zerg threat.
10 years later, the map is still the size of a postage stamp, you still cant zoom... its like playing a 10 year old game with somewhat current graphics.
the placement system goes off win/loss based on the quality of people you played against and won or loss to.
don't play the random team games for a couple of weeks would be my advice..
but now to move up the ranking system you're going to have to peice together a good chain of consecutive wins.. the ranking system will start putting you against gold players once you win a few in a row if you continue to win it will bump you up to gold etc etc.

why would you need to be able to zoom on the minimap? of all my years of playing SC I never even thought that would be something useful?
Trust me, the ability to zoom in and out and see the entire battle unfold is very, very useful. I also really dislike that feeling that my face is pushed up against the monitor that I get when playing Starcraft. The ability to time attacks from air, ground and sea by looking at the strategic map is key to victory vs other players online.
One of my favorite tactics is to bring ships near shore and then bring some gun ships to fire at something near their shoreline to bring their fighters and AA where I want it placed for bombardment from sea units. Once their units have moved, I can switch between different preset groups of fighters to target sepcific way points and bomb those locations while I start moving in tanks and mechs to take out any ground resistance that survives.
Being zoomed into a screen like I am a bad dog getting my nose rubbed in my own shit does not allow that. I feel to restricted.
Then dont get me on the fact of 44 units in SC2 and 158 total in SupCom lol.
Blizzard will always have superior marketing. Like Bose and Sony. Doesn't matter if the game is same as the original or not. Those guys know exactly what they are doing.
I'll probably pickup sc2 when people start to get bored and sell their account. Can't see myself paying more than $15 right now. I'll buy yours if you want EE
