game is the shit, I've been playing it non stop. I really have no complaints whatsoever.

I was unable to join a single server, literally every single server was unavailable to me. Then I read on the boards that downloading the punkbuster exe and manually updating it will solve your connection problems... Everything has been working perfectly for me since.

it uses Punkbuster? i thought they sold it through valve/steam which made use of VAC.
Im sure they will get the shit sorted out soon enough.

Steam is just a distribution outlet, only Valve games use VAC, like TF2, Left 4 Dead, etc. EA is still EA, even though Steam is selling their games for them.

plex]i lied, i guess I got a couple lucky servers... same shit still happening. I hate this game now. I rage quit this morning when I made it to rank 1 and the server crashed and it didn't save any of the stats. Still stuck with this fucking newbie gun.

I had connection problems until I ran it in admin mode and restarted my comp.

its more about giving the player a sense of accomplishment with FPS games than keeping people paying monthly fees like in MMOs. Although MMOs have that same reward mechanism as well. What would BC2 devs gain from requiring people to "level up?" Nobody pays a monthly fee. It's about making the player base feel good about themselves and making a dynamic gaming experience. All the guns are basically the same and I haven't noticed much, if any of a difference from my level 1 assault gun to my m16...
You literally get gold stars for doing well in BC2. Remember how it felt when you get a gold star in your 4th grade English class?
In a day of playing I've already unlocked everything the assault class can unlock(I think).. so its not like the "grind" is killer anyway.
