Has anyone tried the P90X fitness program?
I am not fit, but I am not out of shape. I am 5'8" and linger around 155-160 lbs. I usually go running about 2 or 3 times a week. I also have a pull-up bar in my apartment that I try to use every other day. I have been getting into calisthenics.
I also eat a healthy diet full of fruit and lean meat. I love beer (hell, I brew my own) and the occasional fast food (Jack in the Box FTW).
I've recently noticed that despite my lackluster regular exercise, I am acquiring a beer belly. This is no doubt due to me graduating from college and sitting at a desk job for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I am too lazy and cheap to join a gym or hire a personal trainer, so I decided to give P90X a try.
I burned the P90X DVDs. I have been doing a pilot-run of the program for the last 2 weeks. I bought various resistance bands instead of free weights. The workouts are intense. So intense that I've decided to invest in a recovery drink and protein powder. I did Yoga X for the first time today (my first true Yoga session) and it was the hardest workout yet. But I felt AMAZING after it. Instantly fell in love with yoga. The Chest & Back workout was my first P90X workout and left me sore for about 4 days. Hence the protein supplement I ordered on Amazon.... I don't know how these guys do over 100 pull-ups and various push-ups in a 50 minute workout.
Anyways, not sure why I'm posting about it on this forum, but I'd love to hear if any of you had done (or are doing) this program before. After these first two weeks of practice, I cannot wait to officially start Day 1.
It's 75% nutrition, 25% exercise.
P90X, imo, is garbage. Crappy circuit training with great marketting. I suppose it's good if it will get you off the couch and do something fitness related, but the overall program is garbito.
And all the suggestions to crossfit, lolz. Crossfit is a great program for females. And it has some sort of crazy cult following for whatever reason down in Socal, maybe people down there are content with being rail thin and weak, I dunno.
