Following any regime or program involving strict exercise and diet will net positive results. I'm not really formiliar with this p90x program, but I can tell you that I don't do 75% of the workouts that are included in the DVD's I saw. Theres a lot of non-functional workouts targeting beach muscle, and I personally think this is an inefficient method to train. You should focus on being really healthy and not looking good. Plenty of body builders die in their 40's-50's.

Right now I'm not doing anything myself but go to bjj, but when I work out on top of that I normally do http://www.crossfit.com/ which was refered to my be Murd. This was a popular workout routine in prison among in-mates, so you know it works!

Anyway that daily blog gives you a workout every day that will turn you into a machine. You would be able to outwork any of the big muscly beach fags in those dvd's any day of the week after 7-8 weeks of training. Seriously.

You can also find crossfit clubs in your area which have their own custom workouts. They have personal trainers that can help you get much better results. My personally suggestion would be to find a submission wrestling, grappling, or jiu-jitsu club. Replace all your running with grappling and your belly will instantly disapear without adding any additional workouts to your week. Then anything you do on top is just making you better, faster, stronger.

P.S.- some of the plyometrics stuff looks cool in the dvd's. I'm going to download them now and add them to my collection.

Crossfit. A lot of my PT is based on this. It's what any of the really hardcore workout guys in the military do.

Actually the Army is trying to make crossfit their normal pt program. Right now I'm in 1st Cav and they have half of us doing the standard pt, then the other half doing crossfit and they're going to compare the results from the pt tests to see if it's worth spending billions of $ on. AFAIK 3rd ACR is already fully crossfit pt.

That would be amazing if they did that. You'd see a much fitter more capable force all across the board.

The P90X is great in my opinion.

I have always been rather skeptical for all these fitness DVD programs until trying this one out. It works pretty good if you actually stick to it. However, don't expect to get anything from it while going at it with an on and off routine structure. That holds true for pretty much all exercise routines though.

Well, like most things, you're going to get out of it what you put into it. I love crossfit because it's great for what we do. I'm in 2SCR. The Regiment is turning the raquetball room into a crossfit area. Not a lot of space, but /shrug.

Cams, how did you keep with the 2nd and 3rd month? I've been having a hard time finding time doing the doubles. Also, did you get massive stretch marks? And finally, what did you do for nutrition? I'm mostly doing portion plan, but I need FAST/QUICK food to make that gives me all I need for the workout. Thanks

Has anyone tried the P90X fitness program?

I am not fit, but I am not out of shape. I am 5'8" and linger around 155-160 lbs. I usually go running about 2 or 3 times a week. I also have a pull-up bar in my apartment that I try to use every other day. I have been getting into calisthenics.

I also eat a healthy diet full of fruit and lean meat. I love beer (hell, I brew my own) and the occasional fast food (Jack in the Box FTW).

I've recently noticed that despite my lackluster regular exercise, I am acquiring a beer belly. This is no doubt due to me graduating from college and sitting at a desk job for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I am too lazy and cheap to join a gym or hire a personal trainer, so I decided to give P90X a try.

I burned the P90X DVDs. I have been doing a pilot-run of the program for the last 2 weeks. I bought various resistance bands instead of free weights. The workouts are intense. So intense that I've decided to invest in a recovery drink and protein powder. I did Yoga X for the first time today (my first true Yoga session) and it was the hardest workout yet. But I felt AMAZING after it. Instantly fell in love with yoga. The Chest & Back workout was my first P90X workout and left me sore for about 4 days. Hence the protein supplement I ordered on Amazon.... I don't know how these guys do over 100 pull-ups and various push-ups in a 50 minute workout.

Anyways, not sure why I'm posting about it on this forum, but I'd love to hear if any of you had done (or are doing) this program before. After these first two weeks of practice, I cannot wait to officially start Day 1.

It's 75% nutrition, 25% exercise.

P90X, imo, is garbage. Crappy circuit training with great marketting. I suppose it's good if it will get you off the couch and do something fitness related, but the overall program is garbito.

And all the suggestions to crossfit, lolz. Crossfit is a great program for females. And it has some sort of crazy cult following for whatever reason down in Socal, maybe people down there are content with being rail thin and weak, I dunno.

if you think p90x is garbage, what do you reccommend/ or think is viable instead?

I realize the majority of success comes from a healthy diet. I usually make a fruit smoothie for lunch from fresh + frozen fruit + acai juice. It fills nearly 3 normal sized glasses. Is this too much sugar/carbs for a meal? I think the emphasis on the diet for the first 4 weeks is low carb/high protein. I've never had to question myself about a bunch of fruit not adhereing to a diet until now.

I bought a bunch of wild salmon from Costco and froze it. Plan on having that in salads and by itself about 2, maybe 3 times a week for dinner. Also have tons of frozen chicken breast.

I have Endurox R4 for a recovery drink immediately after a workout. I also have some Whey protein powder for when I may not be getting enough protein from foods.
