To be fair WoW does deserve a 8/10 for what it is and that's a PvE game. personal taste should not stop recognition of a well made game. Wow Also probably has the best engine ever made for an mmo.

It may not be the type of game we like to play but it did help revive the mmo scene.

agreed.

On there scale I would rate Darkfall a 6.

His review seemed slightly more positive than the "4" that he gave at the end. The scoring system says to avoid games with a 4 and that they'll be miserable, which didn't fit how he described it.

Maybe the roll a die for scores, hell if I know. One thing I do know is that Eurogamer is apparently the wrong crowd for Darkfall.

His review definetly had a positive spin on the game.. probably because unlike obi's rose colored glasses opinion the guys probably not a carebear.. If you actually took the time to read his write up he thinks it takes too long to kill people and be killed... Regardless if that statement is ill-informed of the later game it leads itself to the thought that he probably isn't a carebear.

But the reality is DF sucks, he knows it and his review is his reputation.. if he recommends a peice of shit to people and they buy it and hate it he's going to get alot of nerd rage for it and it would probably cost him money in the long run.

Unlike LoD who hypes every shit game in existance over the last 3-4 years with little to no repercussions because those who do fall back on "where just trying to game with our homies" so its just the same vicious circle of bullshit.

I was just putting things in perspective since thats what Obs was looking for... its hard for people to understand what perspective is when they only see one view point all the time.

Hype.

Not really I know good games when I see them, unfortunetly the MMO market just hasn't been producing them.

"It's a game which believes suffering is good for you, in all its forms. At its best, this lends the struggles of the game a real intensity. At its worst, it renders the game tedious or openly nonsensical due to the unforeseen implications of the rules."

"This is a world where, if you're expecting trouble, it's reasonable to strip down to your pants. This is stupid beyond all mortal belief."

Especially those.

WoW is universally rated well so that's not surprising. And WoW was truly some of the most fun I ever had in an MMO, running around ganking fools with plex was one of my high points in gaming, even if the game was carebear. It's just too bad the end game succumbed to endless hours of grinding instances over and over again for a shiny to be viable. Because really, that's the biggest thing that made WoW bad. Had they built the game from the ground up in some other way, we might still be playing it. In the end it's all about keeping people subscribed, you add PvE content to keep people addicted and the money flows, smart fuckers really. Wish I did it.
