I have to chme in here... I've stayed out of this whole thing, but if anyone calls themselves a PvPer and thinks WoW is better than DF, then they need a reality check.

WoW is the biggest piece of shit time-sink since Everquest. It may be worse than Everquest. We had to go out of our way to create fun in WoW, and while it was possible to an extent, killing the same guy over and over while he comes back in 2 minutes and dances at you with no repercussions is just gay on all levels. No looting. No shit-talking. No griefing... except for corpse camping. (key word.. camping = boring). I'm not saying WoW isn't great for the PvE crowd, but if anyone's in that group, they shouldn't be in LoD.

Now, do I think DF is the best game ever? No. UO and SB were both better. But have I had more fun in DF than WoW? Yes x 10! The game can be frustrating at times and its travel system definitely isn't perfect, but the large scale battles are un-paralleled, the ship combat is like no other MMO before it and the looting/shit-talking is wide open. I think its pretty bad ass, despite its other issues (have to exploit mobs, travel kinda sucks, naked zerg rushes)... which I think will be fixed with time.

On the other hand, WoW has made it pretty clear their direction, and the only "fixes" they are making is adding higher levels and more PvE content... i.e. carrots for the PvE crowd.

It's always amazed me how many people bash on WoW like they bought the game and then got anally assaulted by some quest giver at the orc capital....

Anyone who didn't know what WoW was prior to buying the game is a big fucking dumb ass... I'm sorry it took me about 2 hrs of the "open beta" in WoW to realize what shit it was going to be. If you lisened to the hype crew spew out bullshit and didn't open beta it yourself then you and everyone else who did that have no one to blame but yourself because it doesn't seem like this is a new phenominom.

Everyone who bought WoW should have known prior to what the game was about, yes I'm sure most of you hoped the arenas/battle grounds were in at launch -- its actually why I never bought the game. But don't fool yourselfs into thinking you got the sheet pulled over your eyes worse in WoW than you did in DF...

Coming from someone who plays and supports DF surely you can see the irony in it?

WoW clearly is a better game.. maybe not for a PVPer but to argue its not a better game is really futile when you can't argue with $ and thats all WoW is one big cash cow.. thats why developers make games to make money... Is it a better PvP game? If it had full loot could you really argue it wouldn't be? If blizzard wasn't such a pussy with their 10000000s of servers and just had one that had full loot (or any loot for that matter) and FFA pvp.. WoW would easily be a better pvp game.

It doesn't though.. so I guess I can give DF the nod on winning a pvp game competition vs WoW... for what ever that says.. it definetly doesn't say much.

Blizzard Entertainment Inc. and Legendary Pictures says Sam Raimi (RAY'-mee) has signed on to direct "Warcraft," a live-action film based on the popular online role-playing game which allows players to become such characters as orcs, trolls, humans and dwarves. Raimi is best known for directing "The Evil Dead" and "Spider-Man" trilogy.

He most recently wrote and directed "Drag Me To Hell."

Of course there's shit ton of aspects for MMO's but guess what, here the one and only aspect to look for in a game is PvP. Have you ever heard one time in this entire forums existence someone say they like some game because of the player run economy? Or the PvE? No! you know why? Because no one really gives a shit unless it betters them in PvP.

You're like a damn salesman trying to create a problem that isn't there because it's your only solution. If someone only cares about PvP, and you try to talk about the "overall" game no ones gonna listen to you. And it's probably why you can't understand why people play DF. You want a great overall game, everyone else wants a great PvP game. And of course I know you're thinking "well DF isn't even good at that", again only your opinion but name an MMO out right now that has better PvP.

And for your argument of if they only want to PvP just play an FPS to get the same result. Lemme ask you this; have you ever felt a kill as gratifying of a kill in Shadowbane when you played an FPS? Me personally, nope. Sure a no-scope headshot through 2 guys from across the map has some instant gratification. But when you're in an MMO pvping and you just went against the odds and win, it's a lot more gratifying and definitely stays with you longer. When someone asks about your PvP experience do you tell'em about how great you are in CS? Or the badass battles you had in Shadowbane? Or how you would get "the shakes" from PvP in UO....

I can't wait to see a movie where 1/2 the people can't talk to eachother. AWESOME!

You're looking at the small picture unknown.. when I say "we" I mean everyone who played the game and still does play it. Of course I know LoD doesn't like WoW and would never consider playing hello kitty land.

9 Million current subscribers vs DFs what 5-6k subscribers? Its not hard to choose which games better regardless if LoD likes it or not.
