Maybe, maybe not.. most MMOs require you to learn to play a character doing so you learn its strenghs and weaknesses.. which usually games that have classes.. or atleast games that have some type of skill cap leave room for counters that you have to know how to execute.

Atleast most MMOs have some type of skill tree that actually matters.. I mean DF has 100s of skills that are completely passive and retarded but only what 4 melee skills and a mastery thats really just another passive skill. Out of the 4 real melee skills what maybe 1 is actually decent?

If it were a real MMO those skills would probably mean something.. they would be counters for something and not just space fillers until they actually design a skill system thats worth a damn.

Archery is more of the same if not worse.

And magic is so un thoughtful and completly lacking of counters spare some debuffs that are probably just a waste of time to cast vs say a fireball.

My point is the game is so shallow that player skill is completely lacking even in the sense the game doesnt even have counters that people need to learn.. its all just range vs melee to melee vs melee spam click fest.

But people defend it as this great pvp game because why you can macro 24/7 and do more damage than people who don't is that the skill this game was supose to be built on?

Even though I was talking stricktly MMOs in the above question.. since you brought up the TF2 thing all of the classes have another class that can counter them. It does take player skill to recognize that and to be able to actually execute it.
