Considering the player base is still just people that know from word of mouth, and following the project, the numbers may be getting smaller, but they have yet to advertise. They teamed up with Ikona Ihos S.A. to advertise, and do product distribution in Europe. with that, all Europeans will finally know the game is there.

Once they are done setting the NA-1 server up with GNi, I'm sure they will advertise, and do product distribution there as well. We still haven't seen an official release, so I'll also say "the numbers are getting low", once they have introduced the game to the two continents, and people actually start quitting.

It still amazes me that people think advertising is going to save thsi game. Think about it.. every "hardcore" pvper/guild knew about this game for years and at the least knows about it already..

This game is so shit compared to what the "mainstream" mmo player is going to expect that the only thing AV can hope for is box sales because the subscriptions just wont happen.

What does that mean for the DF players who stick it out? You'll be able to farm newb cities until the new sales run out and then it'll be more of the same with a faster fall out rate.

If people even decide to fucking buy it especially in EU where it's getting bad review after bad review... Wait till this shit hits US stores (if it does) and watch the bad reviews.. I don't think the advertising will save them.

I don't disagree with them getting shitty reviews, mainly because it's going to be a bunch of WoW Heads writing the reviews. As for advertising, it sells everything. It sold Age of Conan, and ran out of pre-orders to be exact. Regardless, not every hardcore gamer knows of this game. With 15000 people playing (counting total members in guilds), I can see a lot more jumping in to play. I know a lot of my friends who are heavy PK/PvP players, that are waiting on the NA release. I told them that would be best, sense they are chucking new things into the game each week, or making improvements.

The largest majority of gaming share for any mmo is the box copy sale. This has been proven time and time again, and everyone in the gaming industry knows it.

Guild Wars sold 1 million box copies with a complete digital distribution system setup.

WoW has sold 5+ million box copies with a complete free trial\digital distribution setup. World of Warcraft still continues to be a top seller for retailers shelves. Even though you can get the game for free via download.

Any game on steam has sold more of its box copy counterpart. Steam has been one of the biggest successes for digital distribution and they still can't beat the box.

Shadowbane sold most of its copies via box as well. Retail space is the biggest investment and pay off any gaming company has. That's why Walmart, Best Buy, Target, etc always have the biggest scouts at E3. E3 is not selling the consumer new products for the year, or building hype. There primary goal is to get limited shelf space in these giant stores. How do you think they stayed alive so long while being complete "dead". Shadowbane made Ubisoft a profit. So much so that they could afford to run the game for free until they needed the server space for more profitable shit.

Most people who purchase games in retailers base it off the box art and the marketing of the game on the cover. The game has very little to do with it. It has yet to see its maximum player base or subscribers yet. So its dieing while gaining subscribers, if you want to argue semantics like idiots do.

Lol we'll only be able to argue those semantics once the game actually goes for sale in box form.

And the only reason Ubisoft made a profit on shadowbane is because they were the publisher and not the developer initially.

Not sure whats more scary the fact you think DF is going to hit its peak sales around 2030 or that you just made a graph about me having a hardon....

Fail, you can do better than that. I knew you would love the timeline, it makes the rage go up doesn't it?

If I actually bought DF I would indeed have raged for doing it.. talking about why it sucks and fails is more of a calming effect than anything because I enjoy arguing about how bad it is with people who've sold their souls endorsing the pos.
