I've led more PK groups than anyone else in LoD. I've never had issues with naked people. Even random PK kills in the forest always have shit. Being naked in this game is not an option if you want to achieve anything. The only help it may give is if you are a spellcaster, but then you have regs to loot, and potions if they don't want to die, and food, and weapons because you don't gain skill with newbie items anymore.
My last gripe about the games design are nakeds. It simply is not an issue at all. You can 2v1-3v1 (if not more) nakeds if you have the basic equipment.
The mercs don't roll around naked either. They wear the best shit. The reason nobody can kill them is because they stay at a constant 1500 paces away and have flanking scouts to make sure nobody is sneaking closer to them. They will keep a distance away until they know they have more numbers or a advantage of some sort, or else they go out of their way to not fight at all. They're actually pussies, but they do have some skill. Nakeds not really a problem though. It's been patched.
Also when PKing people don't need to leave their city. You can launch over the wall and kill them all you want. The problem is the city zergs. You stay more than your welcome or don't hit and run and you give people enough time group up and to push you out of the city. When they do so, it's the ones who are fully geared that push you out.

That doesn't prove the games not dying. Fact of the matter is it's not too hard to expand when you only have one server..
They could buy a pencil sharpener for the office secretary and you would consider it a monumental achievment and praise the game and their decision to buy that pencil sharpener.
Reality is.. AV doesn't know who its customer is.. the NA server will fail just as fast if not faster than the EU server failed (if you don't think the playerbase on the EU server is all but dead your only kidding yourself).
Their only chance for DF to be succesful is to ship this shit to asia and hope that the grind fest catches on...
Or maybe us Infidels are wrong and the games a huge success, will probably be bigger than WoW soon.. if they keep expanding!! Please don't strap a bomb to your chest and blow us up Obs... we can't help but be infidels!!
