I installed two new ram sticks at 2 gb each. I also installed a new amd dual core processor, and a new radeon hd 4870.
i boot my comp up and the fans turn on and shit but nothing on the monitor. I also cant turn the computer off, i have to unplug it.
any help?

fans all spinning, no burning smell?
I'd probably start by putting the old memory back in and try it. Then if that dosen't work switching out the new video card for the old one and see if you get video.

Did you plugin the power to the 4870? Do you have a power supply with enough juice to run it?
Did you try resetting the bios after switching cpus?

i tried putting old vid card and memory in, neither worked, checked heatsink/fan/processor and its all in place, i just popped the batt out to clear bios,hope that works,

fixed, believe it or not when i was taking the old heatsink/fan off my knuckle hit a wire clip and unpluged it. Sorry to bug you guys, not really a computer pro. but thanks for the help.
curse these damn man hands

i have the vid card put in and hooked up to the power supply but when i start it, it tells me power is not connected to video card, read the get started manual.
but the fan is running and both plugs are in? fail power supply ?

sounds like that could be your problem.

ya, i thought maybe cuz it ran my 8600gt i might have a shot
the thing is, for power connectors, the card has 2 six pin spots. it came with one 6 pin that branches off into two 3 pin connectors, well 4 but only 3 prongs in it.
Is this extra six pin female just backup or did they forget to pack my shit
