You can pick if you want 32 bit or 64 bit and the licensing lasts until August 9th. I am going to run a dual boot and see how this shit is. Here is the link if you are interested.

Post back with impressions. I can't make myself deal with that shit before I know it's a winner.

Vista is the biggest shitfestival OS I ever used. Either that, or HP HDX desktops are just bundled with so much shit it breaks Vista balls.

EIther way I fucking hate it like the plague. Booted up my old WinXP comp the other day and almost jizzed my miniskirt it was running so good.

I have no idea where all the Vista animosity comes from. I love Vista and have never had anything but good things to say about it. I never used it before SP1 though, so maybe that's it.

Bloated, tacky design, weird file management solutions, shitty performance at times.

Whether it's software generated or caused by a craptastically built HP HDX desktop I'm not sure. Haven't used it on another rig. Hard to tell whether it is hardware or software related. Either way OS performance is sad compared to XP for me.

Either way the lifespan of Vista sorta makes you curious.

I'll never buy an operating system until it's been for sale at least a year.

I would that most people's issues with Vista stem from a shitty PC. Vista's life span is short because it got a bad rap. Have you seen the Mojave Experiment? I'm sure that's what Windows 7 is going to be. It's just Vista with a new name and everyone is going to like it this time.

Makes sense I guess. I have this Apple zealot buddy of mine who actually likes Vista as opposed to previous Windows operating systems.

I don't hate Windows at all, I use it for everything except for Creative suites. Get all the graphics work done on my macbook pro, except video editing. Old habit, plus it's more or less the business standard.

Vista on this rig was a big disappointment though. 4k ram, 8800m gts, decent processor etc. Not a horribad rig, although nothing groundbreaking anylonger. Either way, performance has hurt my feelings.

windows XP is less demanding on your graphics and ram.. it's a proven fact... it just runs smoother on less...

I don't know what people expect. It's not like Vista or Windows 7 is going to be less demanding than XP. They are only going to release OSs that require more powerful hardware. Mac OS is the same.

but what does vista add as far as what it does? it's not more stable... it doesn't have features worthy of a such a pricey upgrade in order to get the OS to run like XP does... it's just another way for microsoft to slap a new, pretty face on something and get money... the only problem is... everyone is fine with XP and their current systems and the new OS offers too little for people to really budget the "upgrade"
