I built a new gaming rig about 3-4 months ago and I have been loving it up until my Seagate 1 Terabyte HDD failed. It would not even power up, which meant that it was not recognized in the BIOS and also meant that I will not be able to recover any information from it. The only way I could find would be to have a data recovery company open it up in a clean room which would cost $1800.

I have my replacement drive now and I want to make sure that I never lose any information again. Anyone have any suggestions for backing up data? I want something that will automatically back up my music, photos, bookmarks, documents, ect. Should I get an external drive? Is there something built into Vista that would back up the information automatically or will I need software as well?
