i use a razer lachesis, i like it a lot..it's light and extremely accurate. it's laser and a lot of people swear against it. however i like the versatility, the macro capabilities, and how it conforms to my hand the way i hold a mouse. 9 buttons, 2 shy of the logitech g9 (i think) which has mousewheel left and right, the lachesis does not. the logitech mouses are too much of a "half circle" for my liking, and don't work well with the way i hold the mouse...so not really up my alley, but may suit you better.

I use the same mouse and I would highly recommend it.

Pretty much the top 3 on the market are the G9, the Razer Lachesis, and the razer Deathadder. The real differences are shape, the side mouse wheel on the G9, and that 2 of the buttons are on the right side of the Lachesis, I personally dont like that location and prefer them under the mouse1. they say the Deathadder is the best as far as smoothest response for a serious FPS player, but my G9 is pretty smooth.

Nice to see so many Razer users.

I've been buying the same model for years now. Razer Copperhead.

Nice. How do the buttons feel and are they positioned nicely?

My only complaint on the copperhead is button placement and some of them being too stiff.

I tend to slightly curve my grip ontop of the mouse instead of my palm laying flat across the surface. I have big hands, but some of the buttons are positioned weird / so stiff they are useless.

Might just pick up another razer if I can find one with more optimal button layout. I suspect DFO is gonna require an ocean of hotkeys, wanna make use of every last mousebutton.

I am still getting used to it. My natural grip doesn't seem to line up with all the buttons so I am trying to force myself to hold it how they designed it. On the fly mouse sensitivity is nice and I am really noticing the 4000 dpi (or whatever.) Probably because I have never owned a mouse worth over $20.

Plus, the buttons are a little stiff on the sides and I find it a little awkward to press one side and not hit the button on the other side (due to the squeeze).

I will get used to it and learn to love it I hope.

Yeah, try to get used to the side buttons asap. Use them even if you don't like em. I kept using only 2 of em and I could never get used to using the others. Will preserve some good keys surrounding WASD. Playing at 4000dpi is pretty hardcore. I play at 2600 on mine. Max dpi.

You guys need to optimize. See empire forum.

Playing with 4k dpi is usually going to be really bad. I bet if you open up MS paint and draw a line it's rough as hell.
