DM has less strategy than just about any multi-player FPS mode. It's good to improve your personal twitch skills, but doesn't offer much as far as team work.

i think there's far better DM games than hl2dm, but as far as the above statement goes...wtf?

how can you possibly get any more intense and mmo pvp-like than a DM? especially if you go in with friends..it's total ffa pk and you can use the grav gun to grab medpacks and shoot them at your hurt friends in a fight...you can miss and hit the person their fighting and heal the wrong person..granted, i think playing the same map rotation gets insanely old very quickly, any mods like ridiculously low grav sucks, and servers that don't start with allguns are annoying. but still, i think DM teamwork, especially when not TDM, takes more teamwork skill than FPS where you're automatically on a team. also colors and blood stand out in an FPS that allow you to pick different skins..you can all go in with the same skin and it's like throwing down guild colors. imho.

ps. i can't talk a lot of shit on this subject one way or another, i've only stuck with DM games as long as the people i play FPS's have..as they get boring solo relatively quick for me...4 or 5 months...and have way more time invested in forced team FPS like DoD etc. and of course any league or match play is going to be way more intense, and way more along the lines of what you're describing. but i don't think anyone plans on doing that before DF releases.
