bush wanted the line item veto so he could rid his bills of pork, but the dems wouldnt allow it. now its democrat majority across the board and the spending will go out of control.

I really didn't accept Obama until his acceptance speech. I really hope in his tenure we can get out of wars and being the goddamn police of the world. I want other countries to have respect for us again, because our rep is fucked. I hope he lives up to not fucking the middle class as well. Times where not bad when Clinton was on office. I hope times are somewhat similar. ANd i hope gas stays at 2.00 a fucking gallon.

The only thing that would help is to ban Jap cars from being sold in the states for a decade or so. Can't compete with their costs. Not to mention engine mileage and overall reliability.
Oh and Bush is a moron. But I like morons in the office, they make the world more interesting.

I have no expectations of Obama at this point. I'm actually glad that he won, I think the republicans needed a reality check. I hope that he does good things for us, but I'm not holding my breath. I mean I was totally convinced 8 years ago that bush was what this country needed. Now I feel like a retard for voting for him. Now I'm just of the opinion that no matter who is in office, it couldn't be any worse than bush. Thats the sunny side to the last 2 months of the worst president in histories term. It only gets better from here.

Why don't you use a worthwhile statistic? Military spending as a % of GDP.
I'm already pretty angry over the financial bailouts. If the auto industry receives more of the same, I could totally lose it.

Why do we view it in relation to GDP? If anything we should look at it in a way that is proportional to our government's spending. I don't have the numbers, but I would like to see it compared to things like education, infrastructure, science spending.
I don't care if we are spending 50% of our GDP or 10 trillion dollars, if it is a small number relative to investment in our own country.
