Why do we view it in relation to GDP? If anything we should look at it in a way that is proportional to our government's spending. I don't have the numbers, but I would like to see it compared to things like education, infrastructure, science spending.
I don't care if we are spending 50% of our GDP or 10 trillion dollars, if it is a small number relative to investment in our own country.
