Perhaps someone can explain why so many of you think your new President will hurt you so much?
I have noticed a few comments on how people think the two party system is flawed, well as someone from a country where we have a multi-party system, both systems are not great. All more parties really do is push everyone closer to the centre.
I have also noticed that people are really worried about socialism...a little really isn't a bad thing. When it comes down to it, Canadians have a very high standard of living due to our healthcare and other government funded programs. Not every person is a lazy slacker on these programs and there have been measures taken to ensure that only people who need them can get them.
I won't say that I am the most informed person on US government, but couldn't a case be made the Bush Jr was one of the worst presidents ever? If you look at the country before he took over and at it now, it has taken a massive downturn globally and internally. I am not trying to start a massive flame war or anything...just trying to understand how anyone could make things worse than what Bush has done to your country.
I love so much about the States and it really bugs me that you are struggling so bad.

Bush got nailed by 9/11. Who knows what we would think of him if that hadn't happened. I think he did the best he could under difficult circumstances and it simply wasn't good enough.
It's easy to criticize someone else. I certainly don't think I would have been better at being president than he was.
As for Obama I'm sure things will work out. I just don't think they will work out as well as they would have under a McCain administration.

Why does the President get blamed for our failing economy? Outside of the wars..what other spending did Bush create? Was it Bush who tacked on billions in pet projects to war funding bills? NO. Did Bush create the housing crisis or the bailout necessary? NO. The fucking Congresses and previous president did. Yes its more complicated than that but its the easiest way to explain the macro of the situation.
This Congress is predominantly to blame. Now we have given Pelosi & Reid a mandate to spend like fucking crazy.
BTW..anyone see already how the Democrats are worried that Obama will live by his campaign promise and not allow lobbyists to participate in his cabinet?
If he stands by that promise and doesn't bow to Pelosi & Reid's pressure I will have better faith he was the leader we needed.

9/11 definitly played into some of the problems your country is facing now, however some of his choices (Iraq comes to mind) certainly won't help his legacy.

Okay then, maybe rather then saying he is to blame, what good choices has he made to help your country?
Again, I am not to trying to start anything, I am just looking for some understanding.

He made a good choice to push cutting taxes. However he was neither able nor strong enough a leader domestically to stop fucking spending from spiraling out of control.
He was guilty of being tied to closely to the people who got him elected. He was unable to separate himself after like Clinton was able to do and manage Govt from the middle.

He created 7 million jobs over the last 8 years..........
and couls hit it right on the head, the majority of the "issues" the country faces today was created by Clinton and a liberal congress.

Your wrong. He tried to cap those spending bills but your fucking cronies in Congress wouldn't help him out. I know you read the papers over the last four years. Stop acting stupid. I am starting to believe you actually are.

It is plain for anyone to see. He just did not seem educated enough to be in that position.
