Atleast they have a set release date..
We should make a push on this game, if release is next summer then beta will be sometime in the winter. Let's make it happen.. it already looks better then DF and the trailer is in-game footage
Q: Is Mortal Online comparable to any other game out there?
A: It?s never easy to compare your work to others. The core team comes from the beta days of Ultima Online and wants to build a PvP game in the same spirit but with today?s technology. Some of the very first MMORPG?s had features we have always seen as primary for the genre, and we are surprised to see that so few have developed games based on those features since that time. In short, we find many of today?s MMORPG?s impressive and fun, but see most of them as ?cooperative PvE? games with only rudimentary PvP functionality. This makes us even more determined to see our vision come true in Mortal Online.
Q: When will it be released?
A: During summer 2009
don't fall for their bullshit. It's not in-game footage. They are just using in-game textures and showing technological features of the unreal engine in which they are building the game upon. They don't even have a pre-alpha functioning client yet. That's why there are no screenshots yet
Which means they are seriously 6 years away. Every MMO company lies and says 1-2 year release date when they first put up their website. It is because if it said Release date 2012 you would blow it off and not bookmark the page for another 4 years. No bookmarking the page means no website hits, no website hits means no financial backers, no financial backers = no product.
Remember when darkfall beta was going to be released in 2 weeks in 2003? Same thing. They needed actual time to create the game after the hype was built up. Not saying they CAN'T release it earlier, but it would be utter unfunctional\incomplete garbage.
It took Lineage 2 about 3 years to turn the unreal engine into an mmo capable engine. Hopefully it is better than it was back then, but just because you have a pre-licensed engine doesn't always make shortcuts easier
