Lil Wayne and Katy Perry are apparently making good music because they're signed and selling millions of records/songs....
Darkfall is a niche market game and wont see mass commercial success. Who fucking cares? Is that a surprise to anyone anyway? It's a niche market game. Music has 50 million niche markets. Stop with the poor logic, hating and baseless assumption/speculation. You aren't the sole voice of reason here... I for one am hopeful that Darkfall will come out and fill my needs as a hardcore PvP gamer. I think the rest of LoD feels the same. If Darkfall isn't good or doesn't come out, we should do as Skunk says and find a new hobby/genre, because the future of MMOs looks fucking dim. There's always Starcraft 2 son!
My prediction:
1)Darkfall will come out, whether it's a limited release, digital release or complete retail release.
2)Darkfall will be AT LEAST as good as Shadowbane(but probably better).
lets just see what happens though, Christ. Game has neither come out or been canceled at this point.

You missed the point, record companies know artists like Lil Wayne will sell, Why? Because they know there's ten million 14 year olds who are gonna buy it who have been brainwashed by expansive marketing campaigns. Explain to me why the fuck a publisher would invest in a game company they aren't confident in, especially when the hardcore pvp crowd is the minority (unfortunately). Would you go blow millions upon millions of dollars in a high risk market if you weren't 100% positive it would succeed? With ONE game trailer in the past year and a half, I'd say that would be a cause of concern for a publisher. Especially for a game company that has no history of producing games.
You won't even risk $100.00 at a blackjack table dude, and I don't blame you. It's a lot of fucking money and it's pretty bad risk/reward.
Don't know if you're familiar with "Duke Nukem Forever" but it's been in production since 1998, and guess what? It's STILL coming out! Can't wait. When we're in our 40s I'll just say I told you so.
I do agree with you on Lil Wayne being gay as fuck. We should make a mariachi band and play at dirty mexican restaurants. At least then we could PK fat ass mexican beeches by drowning them in bean dip and stabbing them with tortilla chips, we might even be able to convince skunk to let us fuck him in the ass after a sombrero circle jerk.

"If your shit sucks, you're not getting signed"
"You are right though, Lil Wayne is gay as fuck."
"record companies know artists like Lil Wayne will sell"
"Not to say that there aren't good bands that aren't signed"
I didn't "miss" your "point". Clearly you're confused about your own point... Hell, I am too. It's changed in some way in every post. Or at least you've contradicted yourself. This thread is Setz vs Setz, watch!
Setz: Darkfall sucks because it isn't signed to a major record label(wait what?). If your shit sucks, you aren't getting signed. There is clearly a correlation between "goodness" and being signed.
Setz: Lil Wayne sucks and they were signed because they're marketable. Also, some good artists aren't signed to major record labels! Clearly there is no correlation between being signed and "goodness."
Setz: I just self-owned myself didn't I?
Setz: Yea bro.
Again, Darkfall doesn't need to send copies to Best Buy or Gamestop to come out. They could do a limited online release, digital download release(most large companies do this already) or do pre-orders to gauge how many copies it will sell before taking the appropriate measures to releasing the game. Maybe sell 10K-100K(100k being overly generous, 10k being more realistic) copies online. Happy days.
you may be right though... it might not come out... but what exactly is the point of starting a smear campaign against it? People barely talk about Darkfall nowadays and most people(including myself), hold the, "If it comes, it comes," stance on it. What prompted you to post this exactly?
Lets just be Starcraft 2 pros.

"Game companies get "signed" by publishers much like music artists do. If your shit sucks, you're not getting signed, hence the delay obviously. Not to say that there aren't good bands that aren't signed, you get the point though, it's a money thing."
Ya, a money thing, obviously you missed that big time..
The whole argument was about commercial success, not about who is a good band and who isn't. I was using the music industry as an example which you obviously took too literally.
"You missed the point, record companies know artists like Lil Wayne will sell, Why? Because they know there's ten million 14 year olds who are gonna buy it who have been brainwashed by expansive marketing campaigns." <---Strange that quote has to do with commercial success too.
Let me restate it for you in in simpler terms:
Publish: To prepare and issue (printed material) for public distribution or sale. <---SALE
Commerce: The buying and selling of goods, especially on a large scale, as between cities or nations. <--Large scale selling, AKA being signed.
Now if you put the two together, you have the core of what I'm trying to say. Darkfall needs to be good to be PUBLISHED for COMMERCE, or it will never be released. It's taken them 7 years to produce a one and a half minute trailer.
Sorry it was so hard for you to understand.
With the amount of word twisting you can do I would imagine you would have been intelligent enough to pick this up in the first place.
So put up your next argument, admit you're gay, then I'll admit I'm gay and we'll be done with it. Then wish me a happy birthday shnookums.

I'm directly quoting you, not twisting words. It isn't my fault you open your mouth and vomit words. In fact, most of my last reply consisted of quotes from you. In essence you're arguing with yourself at this point.
Don't try to pull that condescending stuff or try to insult my intelligence.... You aren't smarter than me(comon now).
As for this argument on here, I'm done. You're being personally insulting now because I struck a nerve or something. We can talk about it in person if you want..... but it wont take me long to prove you're wrong = /

, at least we're currently playing AoC. Even if it makes Setz bust a perfectly good headset, at least its happening now, not in 2 weeks.

If Darkfall is stable it will beat most MMO numbers.
What is so niche about it? It's a MMORPG based in a fantasy world with a questing system supposable like wow and aoc. You seriously think the MAJORITY of dorks who buy MMORPG's care about ANYTHING else. Dude you can play as a werewolf. That's 100k subscriptions right there. You can be a pirate, thats' 100k subscriptions right there. People love games that let them be what they want to be. People LOVE sandbox style games, and there hasn't been a sandbox MMO since Second Life. You know the game soooooooo shitty that nobody could possible play it. A game catered to a REAL NICHE market (programmers, artists, and animators). How many subscribers does it have? 57,000 PAYING premium subscribers. With over 2,000,000 registered players and 800,000 active members.
Darkfall will be successful if it can be as stable as they claim and... exists.

I agree with you(but there is no way it's beating WoW)
I'd consider it niche though because the crowd it appeals to the most is the hardcore PvPer(even though I agree it has other aspects that attract other people). No other game coming out or already released has as many PvP/PK/grief centric features as Darkfall. It's an anomaly among current games. Much like hardcore PvPers are the minority in the gaming community.
I agree what you're saying though, It'll still garner support among other types of players. I aint the DF naysayer here.
