Federal ban on lawn darts 1988 federal ban on lawn darts.
Does a few deaths from lawn darts justify a federal ban?
We give weapons "cars" to 16, 17 and 18 year olds that go out misuse and kill people more regularly, more frequently and are far more dangerous to your average pedestrian, with far less training. Ya 12% of the driving population causing over 25% of the accidents. I wouldn't be worried about a taser in the hands of law enforcement officers. Intent is not the issue, both are tools used for intentions other than to cause death, consequently they both can have deadly results.
Now I wouldn't argue with a few of those Youtube videos being excessive force and a prudent police chief should recognize that, failure too creates a lack of public confidence.
WIki the continuum of force as your background is probably not in criminal justice. Do you think the level at which an officer pulls a taser to be at a higher level of force? Or do you think tasers are "deadly force" and/or should replace the gun, mace, or an established type of force - or they should not exist on law enforcement belts? Or should officers nationwide undergo sensitivity training for their nationwide misuse of tasers?
Lets be clear. <img src="/~stretch/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
