Where is the evidence of an afterlife?
I will admit I do not know there is an afterlife, I have faith one exists.
While those who do NOT believe in an afterlife exists do so also without proof.
The common assumption is that we both don't know. The difference is I admit that I don't know and have faith there is, whereas the opposing view is that they also do not know yet have faith there isn't. Others are just uncertain.
Both are a leap of faith
Another point, most of you believe Socrates existed right? Yet there are only two historical sources that say a man named Socrates existed. Plato and Xenophoen and even some of Xenophon's historical background and birth date is not recorded. Yet no history guru's deny Socrate's existance.
The bible is backed up by ample historical evidence; The Axe, the 4 gospels, Josephus (Jewish historical evidence), enemy sources such as Nero, Pontias, Tiberius. Edwin Yamauchi the historian writing about Christ. The letters of Pliny, Babylonian Talmud the compilation of Jewish writings. Lucian of Samosata was a second century Greek satirist wrote of Jesus's existance.
Arguing this from a secularist point of view. The reliability of the bible being a historical document describing the life of Jesus Christ is just not refutable, as you atheists, or theists, agnostics, people of reason would put it, it is scientifically and historically a factual document.
Arguing this from a theological point of view is one that I cannot prove. I cannot prove the unprovable, it is just faith. There is no video I can post on YouTube showing the creation of my Messiah from God. If such a video did exist, then the validity of the video would be at question. Which brings us back to square one, you as a skeptic would have to see it to believe it.
I would also acknowledge the great leap of faith in believing man was created by steaming pile of mucus as such a theory has not been recreated, nor proved.
Atheism Vs Christianity - Most of those ideas were not my own
