It wasn't so much the heros as it was the NPCs you had to kill with your heros in order to win the game. So instead of a game about counters its a game about who can exp the fastest.
WCIII was indeed gay because of that.

Well as someone who played and got in the top teir of the 2v2 AT and coming from someone who used to beat people using just HEROS and no units, the game isn't as much about counters as you would think.
I agree there are counters but the heros win the games, exping the npcs makes heros better ie faster exping = winning.

I agree that War3 is all about the micro, but I don't see how you could be constantly successful without exp'ing with hero's (unless your a rush kinda guy)..

there's no choice to XP or not to XP, in fact you're kind of forced into it if you want shiniez from shops(again needed to beat good players)... Creeping has so much significance in WC3. Ask any pros about creep patterns or watch any reply from a guy who knows his shit. For someone who is STILL playing(you) it is kind of sad you're devaluing creeping so much =p
oh and I microed my fucking ass off in SC =p but I agree its far more dominant in WC3

Gonna agree with Stretch on this one. No one is going to win with just hero's from creeping.... unless they are playing a camper and manage to get a level 10 hero from killing mobs?

the average player who does not creep vs the average player who does creep, would lose 9 times out of 10. and it really all depends on the races but i myself always played night elves and having the damage bonus with an army of archers backed up by an army of melee was devistating.
so what i think is that the player who creeps the fastest but does not rely on having an uber hero, is usually the winner. heroes just cost too much to replace so if they die 2-3 times usually youre gunna be losing that game.
now i wanna play wc3 ;D
