I had a treo 650 and that thing was durable. I'd hammer it on my steering wheel, skipped it across my cubicle, tossed it over my shoulder behind me in my cube... one damage was a few scratches and I broke off the antenna once, but that was easily replaced.
I have a blackberry pearl now. Better for receiving emails I think, well compared to my treo. You don't even need the google mobile add on for gmail, you can use the blackberry setup to notify you when you get a mail rather than having to check for mail... same with yahoo.
The reason I got this was because of the following:
The treo is tooo bulky
Earpiece sucks
Microphone isn't all that great.
microphone and earpiece started to suck after firmware upgrade.
but that motherfucker was hammerfisted or tossed everyday...
I had a 650 from cingular.
