i mean yeah, its fun to jack other peoples shit. but when we all played uo, did you really play it cuz you could get that 50 reg bag? those potions? didnt anyone like fighting to kill the other guy, prove you were better and a bigger man because you could win? doesnt anyone get the rush when youre fighting in a huge brawl, whos really thinking of OMFG I WANT HIS HALLY I HOPE I GET HIS LOOT. i only bring this up because lots of games are going away from loot, and more towards fighting. isnt that what we orginally wanted? what would you rather have, good pvp and great gameplay or just to jack peoples shit?

nobody else thought that? really losing shit is THAT important to people? doesnt that basically fall along the "i need to get more uber purples"
of course thats what some people think that WE kill, but do we really think like that when we die? and if we dont, doesnt that mean that others might not too?

Winning a fight is great and all dont get me wrong but it dosent do enough emotinal damage to a person , I mean you die then go back to your body maybe you lose 5 mintues worth of experience but thats it , Now when you loot an item some guy skiped his mothers funeral for now THAT is winning fight.

I did enjoy stealing all the loot, then ressing them and listening to them beg for there skinning knife, sextant and 3 sulfuric ash, only to drop them one more time. Can't speak for you, but I found that truly enjoyable.

This is the true heart of looting. Emotional grief. Yes, most of us think the way Dirty does when we die, but it's the opportunity to find those diamonds in the rough, those overly attached and emotional pixel-huggers, that drives us to kill those that do not want to be killed.
PvP'ers are generally a differet breed than sheep. I think Roby and Moxie are talking the sheep, not the PvP'ers. With the PvP'ers we get challenge and the fun of beating a skilled opponent. With sheep we get access to torment the souls of the weak. Both are enjoyable, and I want my games to give me access to both.

It is not so much the looting (though it adds the extra element of surprise if you find the vanq hally) as what games have been since they don't have it. The main intent is to strike the fear of loss in someone's mind and have them smash their keyboard over their monitor when they die. Rezzing in 30 seconds and rolling straight back into battle with no consequences just makes death painless for our victims.
Imagine if you could loot purples and take over cities in Wow?
