First of all, buying a politician to vote a certain way is illegal and is a conspiracy. It's called influence-peddling; do a google search on Bob Ney. Second, even if a company has illegal control over a politician's vote, if they don't provide consumers with what they want, they're going to lose market share.
You can't force a company to make a certain product in America. That's basically communism. However, like I keep saying, if people want alternative cars, manufactures will make them (it's gradually happening already). We speak with our checkbooks; companies that don't listen fail.
