Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenence - by Rober Pirsig - My personal favorite book - Philosophy dealing mainly with the differences between the romantic and classic views, and also the definition of "Quality" and its role and importance in our lives, which really is a basis for everything, especially science, for without what we call quality, there is nothing. For example, the number 1 has the quality that it represents a single unit, without that quality, what is the number one? The basic quality recognized in ice is that its frozen. Liquid or vapor H2O isn't very good quality ice because it doesnt have one of the basic qualities that make it ice. These are not examples from the book, just some points I think illustrate how this book may be of value in this assignment.
The Black Cloud - by Fred Hoyle - Its science fiction, but written by an astronomer in 1957, dealing with philosophical issues and offers a differnt perspective on our existence and our method of existence in comparison to what may be possible.
Black Holes and Baby Universes - Stephen Hawking - Probably the heaviest shit I've ever read, much of which i didn't understand, i don't know alot about quantum physics. The basic premises are very interesting though, how black holes may contain other complete universes and alot of discussion about Einstiens' theories.
