When there are issues in other countries, who is there to provide resources and assistance? How many "third world" countries get tons of our help and then turn around and bitch about it?
My comment was that we can be completely self sufficient if we need to be. Believe it or not, but that bothers other nations. They simply can not state the same thing. They are more dependant upon others and us than they want to admit.

Gore, its true in some circumstances like the ones you pointed out... But the fact is that America is dependent on a great deal of other nations... especially economically. Something like 30-40% of our debt is in China, and thats only 1 example.

But does buying something at a less expenisive rate equate that we are dependant upon them, or that we are utilizing our capitalistic heritage??
