Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean (D), appearing on "Face the Nation" in September 2002, said, "There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat to the United States and to our allies." Dean also says " Joe Leiberman, John Kerry and John Edwards all voted for the Iraq war." This was said during the Caucuses which is true.
Gen. Wesley Clark, before he became an anti-war Democratic presidential candidate, testified on Sept. 26, 2002, before the House Armed Services Committee:There's no question that Saddam Hussein is a threat . . . Yes, he has chemical and biological weapons . . . He is, as far as we know, actively pursuing nuclear capabilities, though he doesn't have nuclear warheads yet. If he were to acquire nuclear weapons, I think our friends in the region would face greatly increased risks as would we.
Former President Bill Clinton, more recently, visited Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Manuel Durao Barroso in October 2003. The prime minister said, "When Clinton was here recently he told me he was absolutely convinced, given his years in the White House and the access to privileged information which he had, that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction until the end of the Saddam regime."
John Rockefeller, D-WV, ranking minority member of the Intelligence Committee, said on Oct. 10, 2002, "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years . . . We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
John Edwards says this on the senate floor.
"Saddam Hussein's regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal."
They all have said that Saddam has WMD's (Chemical, biological and searching for Nuclear). These are all democrats.
The left wasnt against the war, the left was only against the war during the Caucases or shortly before.
We can only read unclassified CIA documents and hope they are the whole truth. But what I can post are incidents where the left and right both said there were WMDs in Iraq (Chemical, Biological and in search of Nuclear). In which case I will say that both the left and the right have sources within the CIA that might give more information then the common public like ourselves.
There is no conspiracy. This is just the American political system at work. This is how political capital such a 9/11 is spent on wars that had nothing to do with terrorism. This is how intelligence services can be abused for political benefit. And really, this is how Americans keep their eyes closed to the obvious until a crisis.

I realize this is true, but when you have both parties saying Iraq had WMD's, then the left renigs before the caucases it make me think it was politically swayed. I do realize our intelligence releases documents backing our current president, and realize the left also have sources within the CIA. When both parties say there are WMD's on national television and on the senate floor ect.. I have to take in consideration there are. I cant find intel documents stating its true or untrue (Iraq had or has WMDs) from the internet and know if the info is legit or not. All we can do is listen to our elected officials and try to understand why they spew certain things. For political gain or because they believe it themselves.
Punchline: I believe the CIA thought there were and maybe are WMD's in Iraq. The left and right both thought the same during 2000-2003 before the Caucuses, that Iraq had WMDs (Chemical, biological, or nuclear) That is why they publically said Iraq was a threat and stated clearly there were WMD's in Iraq. I think they changed there mind because it was politically swayed unpopular among the left. <--- Those are my own thoughts. Didnt hear it from the radio, tv or media.
I think its safe to say that GWBush has a personal vindetta against Saddam. I think there are other Major Factors of why we went to war, WMDs being the major media played factor.
