I use multisync LCD 1700v (have a couple of em), plus emerson's for low speed use comps (where I don't worry about framerate, ie: compiling, app testing etc...).
Love em, will never go back to a CRT. I have 2 comps with CRT's left, and those'll be LCD too eventually.

I currently have a bad opinion about them.... I had a 19" one that went bad after a little more then a year.... didn't have a problems with ghosting personally... least i didn't mind it. But i heard from some one that they are only rated for only 10k hours ....
soo been leary about them ever since...
look for lower delays on them.... if you can find one with dvi input will reduce ghosting some though make sure your card has a dvi output.
could always get a 1k$ 55" tv from frys with DVI input keep seeings those in the frys paper advert sooo soo tempting....

NEC makes a good LCD, my 17" NEC LDC's (2 of em) are a coupla yrs old now, never a prob.

i think they suck. we've got flat screens at work that i despise. but, if youre out of space go with the lcd. as long as you get a Viewsonic monitor, you'll be fine. nothing else is better, regardless of what a spec sheet reads.

My old one was a viewsonic and it went dead also. So now i've gone with a 19" LG. Beautifull monitor and an amazing picture.

lasted a good 5 years before it went out. picture was superb up until it blew out.
have a 21" trinitron now, which is nice, except for the fact that i can see two lines that divide the screen into thirds horizontally...sucks cause no one else can see it , til i point it out <img src="/~stretch/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Been using my viewsonic vp171b for awhile now which has a 16ms response time, and I have no regrets switching over to lcd. My only small gripe is that the blacks arent quite there yet, but other then that the picture quality is superb and I have no issues with ghosting.
