What really annoys me is when someone like this guy here starts talking about dieting by eating less. THAT IS NOT THE FUCKING CASE. Diet is eating the correct foods at the correct time of the day.
For instance when this was said:
[color:"orange"] [ The key to losing fatigue is to challenge yourself physcially. Build up a good sweat, eat less.
The hard part about dieting is the eating less factor. There is all kinds of good foods out there, which is hard to resist. Fast foods like Mc Donalds are primarily responsible for their contribution to poor health here in the U.S. which is why 1 out of 5 persons here in the U.S. is considered overweight. ]
Do you actually believe this shit or did you make it up as you went?
First things first, I read through your post and some of what you said pertains, but most is just echoback of what the media keeps telling people works and in the end you try bullshit diets like Atkins because this is just jargon and nothing worth a shit.
I agree with the processed foods comment, processed foods are less nutritious than the real thing. They also often sneak in horrible little things like Sodium and Sugars.
[color:"orange"] Stay away from fast foods, and foods and drinks high in sugars, take energy supplements, stay active.
Much of this is right but what is this crap about energy supplements? If you fucking eat right you don't need to dope yourself up on specialized supplements. Almost invariably by taking too many supplements you will cause the body to stop producing said chemical and cause an imbalance that can be fairly challenging to overcome later on when the doctor finally kicks you off the supplementation. All newcomers to nutrition and dieting start screaming supplement the moment they start seeing a deficiency. Try eating a real food that takes care of the problem rather than running for the bottle on the shelf, you might even find such foods take care of (dare I say it) another regimen necessity.
[color:"orange"] If this doesn't work, than I suggest that you live the low carb life style. I personally guarentee instant weight loss within 1 week if you follow the Atkin's diet.
Here we go, another person screaming Atkins as soon as they figure out they haven't the intestinal fortitude to actually do it the right way. What makes me sick is people are going to listen to this bullshit and go out and try losing weight with the atkins diet plan. Atkins starves the body of some very critical nutritional components, that is why doctors tell you not to stay on it for a prolonged period. That fatigue you experience is from a little thing we call iron toxification (too much iron in the blood) and it is a direct result of iron rich red meat diets. Save the people you are talking to the despair and tell them what they need to hear. Get a fucking pair of balls, make a life decision and stick to the fucking thing. I have no respect for a person that whines about his fat ass then turns around and sucks down a package of ho hos. Those are the persons I tell to fuck off and just go suck down a couple containers of pure crisco in hopes it clogs and artery and kills their stupid ass.
Look you make a wonderful point about diet and exercise but your emphasis in your post hasn't been enough on what and when to eat and the carbohydrate to protein splits.
I personally don't know anyone who takes anabolics to lose weight, it just won't happen. I know a significant amount of information about anabolics due to the past time I have chosen. Though I personally don't want or need to take anabolics I know many people who do. The simple fact now remains in the world of specialized anabolics, they certainly don't have the same adverse affects as they did ten or even five years ago. DON'T TAKE THEM BECAUSE YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT. It is just a matter of fucking pride.
If your mother gave you all the information you just posted here, much of it was absolutely INCORRECT. Though she is most likely a book learner and not an experienced, tried and tribulated expert. I got my knowledge from two sources, pure science and years of tinkering with not only my diet but with others diets. Actually, I did learn a ton from an old russian olympic trainer. Those guys know their shit cold. They took blood from athletes 5 times a day for 30 years looking for what caused different changes in athletic performance and gain.
The bottom line is this, don't fucking go on a gimmick diet. Do this shit right so you don't need to alter lifestyle once you reach your desired shape/form. Eat right = 80% and exercise properly = 20% and you will first gain muscle and using that muscle with the proper diet you will burn fat quickly. Atkins is a god damn gimmick, it works, but under prolonged conditions over time most people gain back the weight they lost on it because they are too lazy to change their lifestyle to accomodate the change in diet.

I've been telling fatties on this board since 1999 about the Atkin's diet. Don't let the ignorance about fats and proteins keep you away from this diet. You can eat as much fat as your body can handle, eggs, cheese, mayonaise, meat of any kind. Just remember, you get your body to adapt to this lifestyle of eating as much as you want.

your soo full of shit. I read the boards all the time and you never talk about atkins. Your just trying to get some credit for people starting to get invoved in the new atkins diet fad every one is doing

Excersise, and eat well. (you know what well means, if you eat something, make sure it's quality)
The carb craze is dumb. While the basis of the argument is decent, it will fuck you in the long run. Ask people who have been in shape for years if they watch thier carbs. Some might even tell you they "carb up" before a preformance day or something by eating pasta for lunch snack and dinner.

My 'rents went on the South beach, and it seems pretty good overall. They haven't cut carbs out completely like a lot suggest, they just eat more grainy breads and brown rice and whatnot now. I think that mostly they just started eating healthier food IE more vegetables, fruits and less garbage IE cheese its and chips.

Just to let you know, I am a semi pro bodybuilder and I WATCH my carbs. The science of the matter pertains to anyone, builder or no, carbs = energy, excess energy = fat, fat = fatass crybaby that goes on atkins.
Just eat the correct type of carbs and you will be fine. Rice and plain potatoes, fruits and veggies except for corn.... These things make good regimen foods.

but personally I don't watch carbs, or anything else for that matter. I eat out every day, every meal (no joke). Granted, it's usually quality shit, very little fast food. I work out about 2 times a week, but that doesn't include cardio. Sometimes I'll cardio (run/swim) 5 times a week, and sometimes I won't do shit for 2 weeks in a row. Last time I was tested for body fat I came in at below 6%. It was that electric thing and I don't know how accurate it was though...... had sensors on my feet/hands.
I'm not a nut though so I really don't try and keep track of that stuff. All I care about it looking good <img src="/~stretch/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

You got 2 of 4 of those points right.
Watching your carbs is right yes, but you can still eat a good spit of them and stay healthy.
The trick is to cutt out sugar, which is the devil, and sodium. Rice and potatoes are good clean carbs tha burn cleanly and efficiently.
I know you guys have been told DON'T EAT BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. That is fucking bullshit. You just have to eat properly before bed. I eat each and every night before bed. Low fat proteinated foods with no sugar are your best bet. cottage cheese, canned tuna (in water), and yogurt. These are the types of food you eat before bed.
Don't listen to those wives tales.

Hahhaha, no one wants to argue about a bodybuilder about nutrition.
Bloodrage was right, the fastest way to dropping weight is not cardio or aerobics at all, it's to increase your lean muscle mass through resistance training.
Not only does a hard lifting session burn an incredible amount of calories, increased muscle mass speeds up your metabolism big time, during ALL hours of the day, even when sleeping. Your body is working that much harder to maintain it's incresed muscle mass, and it's you're burning calories at a much faster rate because of this.
That is why lifters need to take in so many extra calories, often 3-5 times the normal daily recommendations you see on the labels of food.
Eating 3 big square meals a day is dumb as well. A lifter needs new nutrients introduced almost roughly every 3 hours. If you give your body long lapses between food intakes, it has more of a tendency to "store up" what you consumed as fat, like a bear hibernating until its next meal. If your body is constantly recieving the calories it's new boosted metabolism calls for, it has less of a need to try to store up fat.
Try to shrink the amount of food you eat to about the size of your fist, but eat it now 6 to 7 times during the day, roughly every 3 or so hours. Obviously you want to be eating lean proteins like chicken and tuna, but as long as you are working out regularly, you don't have to be so anal about carbs. Cutting carbs causes you to lack the energy you need to get a good workout in.
You do not have to be nearly so anal about every last little ingrediant in your food as Bloodrage suggests, only competitive bodybuilders are like that. I have had success with bodybuilding and been able to keep the weight down all the while eating much more "impulsively" than the typical bodybuilder. How anal (as i like to call it) you get about your foods depends on how far you want to go in lifting.
Try to eat at least your bodyweigt in grams of protien for sure. Deli sandwhiches are great ways to get protien, just start buying more lunchmeat. Some people here bashed supplements, but it's going to be damn hard to hit your bodyweight in protien without doing a whey protien supplement at least once a day after you lift. I usually do one in the morning as well, so two times a day.
Obviously don't eat stuff with a lot of fat or sugar. So cut the fucking fast food, soda and junk out of your diet right now, stop eating for pleasure, go beat off or something instead if you have to. You most likely know what healthy food is, just eat that but MAKE SURE you are taking in enough protien, shrinking the size of your meals, and eating roughly every 3 hours or so.
Problem solved.

ADD: not to mention that a hard workout causes your body to produce endorphins during stress situations whose sole purpose is to dull pain by drugging you into feeling "happier"
You've probably heard about it before when people talk about getting a "runner's high", etc.
Probably the reason why 3/4 of the fatass nerds on the net are so cynical and hate their lives is because they never work out.
And then you bring in shit like their self-confidence and self-image and their outlook on life just goes to shit. I see it everywhere i look on the net.
You'd be surprised how much more positive and happy you'd start feeling if u just got up off your ass and started working out.
