Maybe these "extremists" were attacking a US military base because they they setup concentration camps on the island (before you start hurling insults my way, please go read and educate yourself). The Phillipines was taken over against the will of the population to gain a strategic vanatge point. And you do know that the Indonesia area (bordering the Phillipines) is the largest Muslim area in the world right? Maybe they don't like foreign invaders setting up shop in their backyard.
