I wish everyone would just quit with the French being militarily substandard. In WW2 where the "Canadians had some balls" the French were fighting a vicious war. The French have been engaged in almost every large military event. Desert Storm had shitloads of French present. What's the difference between this conflict and Desert Storm? Storm was legitimate, this is not.
From a little above, technology would've had made no fucking difference in Vietnam. The only thing that could've possible made a difference is military strategy.
BTW for all those who don't know, the US administration has made it evident that they are NOT going to leave after the turnover date. They said that their goal in Iraq is reduce terrorism, the turnover is just for the Iraqis to govern themselves. There will still be the US's military occupation.
And frankly, I am nervous that once we leave Iraq something similar to Vietnam might occur. But! The French actually were forced to pull out from the damages they were sustaining. If the Americans leave Baghdad after victory I am confident that nothing like that will happen. And yeah, if the Israelis should assassinate Arafat i don't even want to make a prediction about what will occur. I just hope it doesn't break out into a big panarabism movement which will lead to world war 3...
