It eerily reminds me of the late 60's / early 70's, Walter Cronkite on the news at 6:00 pm listing the daily death and wounding report for Vietnam. There the US troops were surrounded by the enemy 24/7, during the day it was a worker in a wherehouse, by nightime it was smuggling weapons to the VC and planting bombs. Very similar situation. How many of those Iraqi police/troops/translators etc... are the enemy? And can we change them from being the enemy to being our buddies? If not, then the shit will merely continue.
Should have just had the Israeli's assassinate Sadaam (they offered, it was declined), and when the civil war errupted, use NATO and the UN to stablize it.
